Hertz Las Palmas Airport

Gran Canaria Airport is the fifth largest airport of Spain, but is located on the island of Gran Canaria, found somewhat south of the Spanish mainland. Gran Canaria is one of the famous Canary Islands, which are so popular for their beaches and nightlife, and is one of the larger of these islands. Its airport is located approximately half way along the eastern coastline of the island, just 18 km from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the capital city, and around 25 km from the southern areas that are where many popular holiday resorts are situated. The airport handles over nine million passengers per annum, and is well equipped with all the essential facilities for its customers, including a selection of Gran Canaria Airport car hire companies. Hertz has rental counters at Gran Canaria Airport, and arriving passengers can arrange a car from Hertz on the ground floor of the terminal.

Hertz Gran Canaria Airport, is open from Monday to Sunday, between the hours of 07:00 and 23:00, and is found in the arrivals area. All the car hire companies are located in the connecting passage between the international and EU arrival area, which is on the ground floor of the airport’s single terminal building. Arriving passengers will find that Gran Canaria Airport is divided into three sections, which each handle different types of flights, and are known as Zone A, B and C. Passengers on international flights from non-EU countries will arrive at Zone B, and passengers from other island airports will enter at Zone C. Zone B is for the use of flights from destinations within the European Union. The departure area of the airport is arranged in the same way, and found on the upper level of the terminal building. Gran Canaria Airport is easy to navigate, with signs in English, Spanish and German, and passengers will easily find the car rental counters of Hertz.

Passengers who would like to ensure that their ideal car from Hertz is ready and waiting for their arrival at Gran Canaria Airport can make an advanced reservation, from Hertz’s website at www.hertz.com. The Hertz online reservation system is simple, and customers will easily find the perfect car for their holiday or business trip in Gran Canaria. Perhaps one of the reasons why Hertz is so popular amongst many car renters is that they offer a number of vehicles that can be reserved by their specific makes and models. Three car categories are available, and they are the Hertz Green, Hertz Fun and Hertz Prestige Collections, all of which contain a unique range of vehicles that can be more specifically chosen. The Green Collection has environmentally friendly cars that are light on fuel, and include the Renault Clio, Ford Focus Trend 1.6, Skoda Octavia or VW Jetta. The last two cars mentioned have more room for luggage, and are an ideal choice for families.

The Fun Collection contains an interesting variety of fun and sporty models, as well as little cars, such as the Mini Cooper. Convertibles in this collection include the Lotus Evora 3.4, BMW Z4 sDrive 23i and the Renault Megane Cabrio, while larger cars available are the BMW X1, Ford S-Max Titanium and the Volvo XC60. Prestige vehicles from Hertz include mainly Volvo or Mercedes models, such as the Mercedes S 350 CDI and Mercedes SLK 200. More ordinary cars rented from Hertz at Gran Canaria Airport may be similar to the Chevrolet Spark, Ford Fiesta Trend, Toyota Yaris and Opel Astra, all of which are ideal for travelling on the island. For those in need of more luggage room there are estate vehicles, and for a larger number of passengers, vans such as the Opel Meriva, Ford Galaxy, Kia Carnival and Opel Vivaro are offered.

Gran Canaria Airport car rental companies hire baby seats for the safety of little passengers, and Hertz offers the Hertz NeverLost, In-Car Navigation System for directions to all towns and cities on the island. Drivers with this GPS system are ‘NeverLost’!  It comes with top of the range features, and an extensive list of pre-programmed points of interest. Luggage racks are also available for those travelling with bulky items. Gran Canaria Airport, in 2003, acquired the International Accessibility Symbol for passengers with reduced mobility, and at Hertz, disabled customers may be able to request the use of hand controls. This device is free of charge, but all hand controls from Gran Canaria Airport must be reserved at least 48 hours in advance of the vehicle collection time, as only specific automatic vehicles can be used.

From Hertz, don’t forget to arrange a one way hire if you are not planning to return to the airport, as this allows you to deliver your rented car to another Hertz location on the island. Simply confirm with Hertz if your car can be returned to somewhere nearby your final destination, and make enquiries about any additional costs that a one way hire may entail. All customers of Hertz will need to be at least 21 years of age, and in possession of a valid drivers license that has been held for at least a year prior to the rental date. A major credit card in the name of the primary renter will also be required for payment of the car hire period.

All further details are available online, or customers can contact Hertz directly, at their Gran Canaria Airport rental location.
